Extreme Self Care Mindset – Awareness

I have often talked about the 5 Myths of Extreme Self Care… but I am not sure that I have really gone deeper into the mindset shifts that need to happen.

There is an awareness that needs to happen first. Sometimes that awareness comes in the form of illness, as has happened to a friend of mine. After many tests for heart and diabetes, anxiety attacks that keep her from working and drugs that keep her from driving. It boils down to a situation that she is unwilling to deal with. Now Extreme Self Care becomes the highest priority.

Why do we wait this long, why do we feel that we are in some what undeserving of the same love and care that we so readily hand out to other people?

Realizing that we are on a spiral to unpleasant times, is the eye opening awareness that will allow us to begin the journey to Extreme Self Care, but it is just one small step.

Sometimes that awareness comes from studying, reading, or growing in other areas of your personal development. This might seem to be an easy path, after all we are already enlightened, we are spending your time working on our personal growth. But this is sometimes harder, we are feeling we are already connected to what we feel is our inner selves… but we are so focused on the process of growth that we still miss the awareness.

The BEST way to find this awareness is quiet!

Whether or not we choose to practice formal meditation, yoga, etc, the quietness is the only way. Stopping all activities, putting ourselves in a peaceful place, sitting still, this is the only way to the awareness.

This is not easy, this takes time, years for some, this takes commitment, renewed daily. Daily commitment to the practice of quiet awareness.

Am I there? no far from it. But I am committed to finding it and each time I put myself in that quiet place, I get a little closer and I find it a little easier to practice Extreme Self Care.
